A Little History!

New Hope posseses a rich and varied history. Originally settled by the Lenni-Lenape Indians, followed by the English and Dutch and eventually Quaker settlements, New Hope has always been a community that celebrates diversity. The New Hope Historical Society is a terrific resource for local history buffs, or for those just visiting and looking for a taste of the area's storied past. Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2008, the Historical Society remains an active organization vital to the preservation of New Hope's history. Check out the World Premiere Documentary on the 200th anniversary of the New Hope-Lambertville Bridge on April 10th at the Bucks County Playhouse, or check out their other events at www.newhopehs.org.

Until next time!

Spring is here!

Happy first day of Spring everyone! With thoughts of upcoming warm weather, I've gotten a little ahead of myself and started thinking about dining al fresco.  There is just nothing like enjoying a meal and glass of wine while sitting outdoors and enjoying a warm breeze! There are so many places in the New Hope area perfect for that.

With its lovely location along the tree-lined Delaware River, New Hope provides a wide variety of choices for outdoor dining.

I've written spoken before about The Landing, and it only gets better when warm weather comes! With its river deck and outdoor bar, it's a great stop to eat some mussels and have a few beers.

Just up the road you will find Martine's. Also situated on the riverside, Martine's is a scenic spot to enjoy some Gazpacho and a cocktail while watching the ducks and paddle boaters go by. It's even better on the terrace by candlelight, so come for the sunset then stay for the ambience!

As the weather gets warmer, I'll be back with more fun ideas for the New Hope area. I can't wait for sunny days and warm breezes!

And as always, if you are thinking about buying or selling in Bucks or Montgomery County, get in touch with me at janice@everyhome.com. I would love to provide you with a snapshot of the area and a free, no obligation Comparative Market Analysis for your home!

Until next time!

Come sit by the cozy fire!

During these cold winter months, isn't it nice to sit by a warm fire? And what better to accompany the warmth of a fireside setting than a tasty meal and yummy cocktails!

Right here in our neck of the woods are two very different but cozy destinations for food, drink, and a warm hearth!

Cock 'N' Bull in Peddlers Village in Lahaska offers dining in a colonial setting. American classics are prepared the old-fashioned way, and you can even bring the kids and watch as your meal is prepared right in front of you over their huge hearth, using Colonial American cooking methods and cookware. And for those of us with dietary restrictions, a gluten free menu is now being offered!

A short walk or drive over the bridge from New Home, Lambertville Station is a terrific place to warm up with a drink in front of the fire. With a large selection of beers, wines, and cocktails, as well as the best lobster roll this side of New England, it's the perfect place to stop and relax after a chilly day of strolling through the shops in New Hope and Lambertville.

Try them out - I think you'll like them! Enjoy and stay warm!

Until next time,
Jan
